PHOENIX, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Ed Jovanovski scored with 1:23 remaining in overtime Thursday, giving Phoenix a 3-2 victory over St. Louis.
The Coyotes had not been in front all night until Jovanovski delivered an unassisted goal, his second of the season.
Phoenix, which went through a tumultuous summer in which the future home of the franchise was in doubt, won for the fourth time in six games this season. Only Chicago and Colorado have more wins in the Western Conference.
St. Louis scored twice in the second period to take a 2-1 lead, but Scottie Upshall lifted Phoenix into a tie with a wrist shot 8:27 into the third.
It remained a 2-2 tie until Phoenix handed the Blues their first overtime loss of the season.
Ilya Bryzgalov, who came into the game giving up an average of less than one goal a contest, stopped 22-of-24 shots to get the win. Chris Mason made 31 saves for St. Louis.
