LOS ANGELES, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Andre Ethier's eighth-inning bases-loaded walk Friday gave the LA Dodgers a 2-1 win over Philadelphia, evening the NLCS at a game apiece.
The Dodgers trailed in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series 1-0 before scoring twice in the bottom of the eighth.
An earlier eighth-inning run scored when Chase Utley's relay throw to Ryan Howard went awry on a potential double-play groundout by Russell Martin.
Philadelphia's run scored on Ryan Howard's fourth-inning solo homer.
LA starter Vicente Padilla gave up a run and four hits in 7 1/3 innings.
The winner was reliever Hong-Chih Kuo (1-0).
The losing pitcher in the beleaguered Phillies' bullpen was Chan Ho Park (0-1).
Five batters had one hit each for the Dodgers, who spoiled a dominant start by Pedro Martinez, who yielded two singles in seven scoreless innings.
Ryan Howard led the Phillies with two hits -- one a solo fourth-inning homer.
Utley and Carlos Ruiz had one hit each for the Phillies, who will be home for Game 3 Sunday.
