NHL: New York Rangers 4, Los Angeles 2

NEW YORK, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Vaclav Prospal scored two power-play goals in the first period Wednesday in leading the New York Rangers to their sixth straight win -- 4-2 over Los Angeles.

The Rangers have not lost since suffering a season-opening setback to defending champion Pittsburgh. Los Angeles had won four of its first five games.

Prospal tipped in a shot from just in front of goaltender Erik Ersberg 3:11 into the game and then put the Rangers in front for good on a 5-on-3 situation with 6:57 left in the opening period.

He also had an assist on the final goal of the game, scored by Marian Gaborik 4:22 into the third.

Henrik Lundqvist made 34 saves to get the win. He has been in goal for five of New York's victories.

Ersberg allowed all four goals on just 21 shots.
