NHL: Phoenix 1, San Jose 0 (SO)

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Lauri Korpikoski scored the game-winning goal Monday in his first NHL shootout attempt to hand the Phoenix Coyotes a 1-0 win over San Jose.

Peter Mueller also scored for Phoenix during the shootout and Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 26 shots to help the Coyotes break a two-game losing streak.

Evgeni Nabokov made 30 saves for the Sharks, who came into the game with two straight wins.
