GLENDALE, Ariz., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Mathieu Garon stopped all 36 shots he faced Saturday, backstopping the Columbus Blue Jackets' 2-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes.

Garon's shutout is his first of the season and 15th of his career, but first since 2007-08, when he was with Edmonton.

Rick Nash scored what turned out to be the game-winner for the Blue Jackets and R.J. Umberger added an empty-net goal for Columbus, which has won three of four to start the season.

Ilya Bryzgalov made 17 saves in the loss, the second in a row for Phoenix, which had opened the 2009-10 campaign with wins over Los Angeles and Pittsburgh.
