TOKYO, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga cruised to the championship in the Japan Open Sunday, defeating Russian Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-3.

Tsonga's title is his third this year and fifth of his ATP career.

The win was the third straight for French players on the tour. Gael Monfils won in Metz, France, Sept. 27 and Gilles Simon was the champion in Bangkok last week.

Tsonga had advanced to the Tokyo final by beating Monfils 6-3, 6-3.

"I just played so well in the semifinals and final here. I don't know what happened but I just felt so comfortable on court," Tsonga said.
