CHICAGO, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Andrew Ladd scored in the ninth round of a shootout Saturday to hand the Chicago Blackhawks a 4-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche.
After Colorado's Wojtek Wolski was denied on the first attempt of the shootout, the next four skaters scored -- Jonathan Toews and Kris Versteeg for Chicago, and Milan Hejduk and Marek Svatos for Colorado. Patrick Kane had a chance to win it as the second shooter in the third round, but was denied by Colorado's Craig Anderson.
Ladd went stick-side past Anderson's pad for the winning tally.
Duncan Keith, John Madden and Cam Barker scored in regulation for Chicago, which is 1-1 in shootouts this season.
Hejduk, Hendricks and Wolski had goals for Colorado.
