UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Daryll Clark ran for a touchdown in the first quarter and threw for three more in the second Saturday, sending No. 12 Penn State past Eastern Illinois 52-3.
Clark completed 13-of-19 passes for 234 yards in helping the Nittany Lions improve to 5-1. Eastern Illinois lost its second straight and fell to 4-2.
Clark drove Penn State 80 yards in 10 plays the first time it had the ball and scored on a 1-yard run. He then threw scoring passes of 2 yards to Brett Brackett, 51 yards to Chaz Powell and 25 yards to Derek Moye.
Eastern Illinois was threatening to score its first points in the final moments of the second quarter when Penn State's Navorro Bowman picked up a fumble and raced 90 yards for a touchdown that gave the Nittany Lions a 38-0 halftime lead.
Penn State out-gained the Panthers in total yards 551-207.
