
EDMONTON, Alberta, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- Rene Bourque scored with 2 seconds left in regulation Thursday and Olli Jokinen produced the shootout game-winner to give Calgary a 4-3 victory over Edmonton.
The Flames remained unbeaten in the young season and became the first team in the NHL with four victories.
Calgary was one of two teams Thursday to tie the game just before the final buzzer and then win in a shootout. New Jersey triumphed in the same scenario earlier in the evening against Tampa Bay.
Bourque tipped in a shot by Jay Bouwmeester for the tying goal, after which Nigel Dawes and Jokinen scored in the shootout.
Miikka Kiprusoff turned away two of Edmonton's shootout attempts after making 25 saves in regulation.
Calgary overcame a 2-0 deficit after one period. Ethan Morneau and Lubomir Visnovsky scored in the opening stanza to give the Oilers the lead.
