NHL: Pttsburgh 5, Philadelphia 4

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- Tyler Kennedy scored the game-winner Thursday, leading Pittsburgh to a 5-4 win over Philadelphia.

Kennedy's goal put Pittsburgh in front 5-3 at 8:37 of the third period.

Jeff Carter's second third-period goal drew Philadelphia within 5-4 with less than a minute left.

Evgeni Malkin scored once on the power play with one assist.

Alex Goligoski and Chris Kunitz also had a goal and an assist each.

Jordan Stall and Bill Guerin both scored their first goal of the season for the Penguins, the reigning Stanley Cup champions. Marc-Andre Fleury gave up four goals on 34 shots, but still recorded his 16th career victory against Philadelphia.

Carter's two goals and one assist led Philadelphia.

Danny Briere also scored twice, but goalkeeper Ray Emery allowed five goals on 25 shots for the Flyers, who have lost three in a row.
