NEW YORK, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- The New York Jets have acquired wide receiver Braylon Edwards in a trade with the Cleveland Browns.
Cleveland received wide receiver Chansi Stuckey, linebacker Jason Trusnik and an undisclosed draft choice.
Edwards, Cleveland's first-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, third overall out of Michigan, gives rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez a much-needed deep receiving threat to complement Jericho Cotchery.
He made waves in Cleveland when he punched a friend of Cavaliers' superstar LeBron James outside a Cleveland nightclub early Monday.
"Looking at this opportunity, this was a real good thing for us and a good thing for Braylon and I wish him all the best," Browns Coach Eric Mangini told the Plain Dealer.
Earlier this year, he claimed he was not liked in Ohio because he played for the Wolverines in college.
This season, Edwards has just 10 receptions for 139 yards with no touchdowns in four games.
