NHL: Ottawa 2, Toronto 1

TORONTO, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Daniel Alfredsson scored the winning goal in the second period Tuesday to lead the Ottawa Senators in a 2-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Shean Donovan scored the other goal for the Senators. Pascal Leclaire stopped 26-of-27 shots to earn the win.

Matt Stajan scored the lone goal for the Maple Leafs. Jonas Gustavsson, who was making his first start in the NHL, turned aside 26-of-28 shots to take his second loss of the season.

The first period was dominated by the goaltenders, with each making eight saves.
