Giants LB out month after knee surgery

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Oct. 6 (UPI) -- New York Giants linebacker Michael Boley is expected to be out of action for a month after undergoing knee surgery Tuesday, the team said.

Boley had an arthroscopic procedure performed to repair a partially torn meniscus in his right knee. Recovery time is approximately four weeks.

The injury occurred during Sunday's game against Kansas City, although Boley did not miss a defensive snap and made five solo tackles with one sack. The knee apparently stiffened up on the plane ride home and he was further examined Monday.

Boley was signed as a free agent in February after four years with Atlanta. In three games this season, Boley is the Giants' leading tackler with 15 stops, including 13 solo.

Boley missed the first game of the season for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
