KANSAS CITY, Kan., Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Tony Stewart outlasted Jeff Gordon Sunday and won the Sprint Cup Price Chopper 400 at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kan.

Stewart and Gordon led most of the race's final 30 laps, with Stewart changing only two of four tires during a late stop on pit road. The two-time Cup champion survived the gamble and won for the fourth time this season and the 37th time in his career.

"(Crew chief Darian Grubb) is a little gutsy, so that's a good thing," Stewart said during a post-race television interview. "When he makes a call, you know it's the right thing to do and you go from there."

Greg Biffle, Juan Pablo Montoya and Denny Hamlin completed the top-five finishers.

The race ended with a record 10 of 11 drivers involved in the "Race for the Chase" season-ending points battle completing the race.
