ANAHEIM, Calif., Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Goalkeeper Evgeni Nabokov stopped 24-of-25 shots Saturday, leading San Jose to a 4-1 win over Anaheim, spoiling the Ducks' season-opener.

A three-goal, first-period outburst easily allowed the Sharks to seize the early momentum, with goals coming from Evgeni Nabokov, Patrick Marleau (shorthanded, unassisted) and Joe Thornton.

Devin Setoguchi (power play) scored in the second after assists by Dany Heatley and Thornton, while Heatly had two assists overall for the Sharks, who lost 5-2 in their opener on Thursday.

Ryan Whitney scored on the power play with 10:38 left in the third, helped by an assists by Ryan Getzlaf, averting a shutout for the Ducks.

Anaheim goalie Jonas Hiller was beaten four times on 37 shots.
