ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Dioner Navarro's two-run homer Saturday keyed Tampa Bay's 5-3 win over the New York Yankees.

The homer, Navarro's eighth this season, gave Tampa Bay a 2-0 lead with two outs in the bottom of the second.

Jason Bartlett had two hits and one RBI.

Two runs scored on a fifth-inning throwing error by reliever Alfredo Aceves, while Akinori Iwamura added two hits for the Rays, who can complete a three-game sweep by winning Sunday's finale.

The winner was starter Jeff Niemann (13-6).

Grant Balfour recorded his fourth save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

New York's Jerry Hairston Jr., Johnny Damon and Mark Teixeira all hit RBI singles.

Six others had one hit each for the AL East-winning Yankees, who have lost three in a row.

The losing pitcher was 37-year-old starter Andy Pettitte (14-8).
