ST. LOUIS, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Ryan Braun's RBI double capped a two-run 10th inning Sunday and led the Milwaukee Brewers to a season-ending 9-7 win and a three-game sweep over St. Louis.

Jody Gerut's infield single drove in the winning run just before Braun's second hit of the game.

Prince Fielder hit two solo homers and finished with three hits and three RBI. Mat Gamel had two hits and one RBI, while Jason Kendall hit a two-run double for the Brewers, who will not play in the post-season.

The winner was closer Trevor Hoffman (3-2).

John Axford recorded his first save.

David Freese led St. Louis with two hits and three RBI. Matt Holliday hit a two-run double and Skip Schumaker had two hits for the Cardinals, who head into the Division Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers with eight losses in their last 10 games.

The losing pitcher was Todd Wellemeyer (7-10).
