FIFE, Scotland, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- The third round of the European Tour's Alfred Dunhill Championship at Fife, Scotland, was suspended Saturday when high winds made the three courses unplayable.
A tour official said the third round will be played Sunday, and the fourth on Monday.
"The forecast that we have from every source is for the winds to strengthen during the day," said European Tour Tournament Director David Garland. "Every course (at the St. Andrews Golf Club) was unplayable. Theoretically, we could have played the tournament over three rounds, but we took the decision that this is such a prestigious tournament, we wanted to go into Monday."
At 11-under-par 133, Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy, compatriot Michael Hoey and Scotland's Richie Ramsay share a one-stroke lead over Scot Alastair Forsyth, Brits Simon Dyson and Ross McGowan and Finland's Mikko Ilonen.
