SAN DIEGO, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Juan Uribe's solo homer touched off a six-run seventh inning Friday that lifted San Francisco to a 7-2 victory over San Diego.

Reports circulated during the game that the Padres would announce on Saturday they had fired General Manager Kevin Towers. San Diego is headed for its second straight losing season. Towers has been the team's general manager since 1995.

The lead-off home run by Uribe in the seventh broke a 1-1 tie and the Giants eventually sent 10 men to the plate in the inning. The first five batters reached base and Andres Torres finished off the frame with a two-run double.

Reliever Brandon Medders (5-1) retired two batters in the sixth and got the win when the Giants put together their big seventh inning.

Losing pitcher Kevin Correia (12-11) allowed only two hits through six innings, but couldn't retire a batter in the seventh.
