LOS ANGELES, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Troy Tulowitzki's two-run homer gave Colorado a cushion Friday and the Rockies kept their division title hopes alive by downing the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3.
Colorado moved within a game of the Dodgers in the race for the National League West pennant. The teams will play Saturday and Sunday, with the Rockies needing to win both of those contests to grab the division crown.
Both teams will be in the playoffs because the one that does not win the division will be the National League's wild-card team.
Tulowitzki's home run, his 32nd of the season, gave Colorado a 4-1 lead and the Rockies survived a troublesome bottom of the seventh.
Russell Martin homered to open the inning and Andre Ethier singled in a run later in the inning. With runners on first and second and just one out, Rafael Betancourt came on to strike out Manny Ramirez and get Matt Kemp on a fly ball to deep right.
Betancourt then retired the first two Dodgers in the eighth and Huston Street was called on to get the final four outs and pick up his 35th save.
The win went to starter Ubaldo Jimenez (15-12), who gave up a run on two hits and struck out 10 in six innings. Randy Wolf (11-7) allowed two runs on five hits in five innings to take the loss.
