PGA Tour Money List 2009

VERONA, N.Y., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Vaughn Taylor, needing a good finish this year to retain his PGA Tour card, moved one stroke in front Friday at the Turning Stone Resort Championship.

Taylor played the soggy Turning Stone course in 67 for the second straight day and his 10-under 134 total put him a shot ahead of Leif Olson, Matt Kuchar and Nicholas Thompson.

Thompson's 14-year-old sister shares the lead after 36 holes in the LPGA Tour event being played this week in Alabama.

Taylor comes into this tournament No. 131 on the tour's money list. Only the top 125 at the end of the year retain their full playing rights for next season. There will be four more events following this one in which players can improve their standing on the money list.

Heavy rains throughout the week left the course waterlogged. Tour officials took the almost unprecedented step in allowing the players to lift, clean and replace their golf ball everywhere except in hazards.

It is common for wet conditions to force "lift, clean and place," to be used in the fairways, but it is very rare for such relief to be granted in the rough.

Fredrik Jacobson, Bo Van Pelt and Scott Piercy were all at 136.
