SEATTLE, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Doug Fister allowed a run over seven innings to end a three-start losing streak Thursday and boost the Seattle Mariners to a 4-2 win over Oakland.
The Mariners won their third in a row.
Fister (3-4) got off to a good start in his rookie season before running into problems during the last two weeks. He broke out of the slump, however, by limiting the Athletics to five hits and striking out four.
Adrian Beltre hit a solo homer in the second inning and, after Oakland tied it in the fourth, Seattle regained the lead with a three-run fifth.
Mike Sweeney delivered a two-run single in the key inning and Beltre added an RBI base hit.
David Aardsma allowed a homer to Jack Cust in the ninth, but still collected his 37th save.
Brett Anderson (11-11) allowed four runs, only one of them earned, on eight hits in five innings to take the loss.
