
CHICAGO, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Eric Byrnes homered twice and knocked in five runs Friday, leading Arizona's 12-3 rout of the Chicago Cubs.
The first of his four hits was a third-inning RBI single after Arizona already led 6-0.
Later, he hit a solo homer, a second RBI single, and a two-run homer.
Rusty Ryal drove in four with a three-run double and a sacrifice fly.
One of four hits by Chris Young was a solo homer.
Stephen Drew had three hits and one RBI, while Mark Reynolds added a sacrifice fly for the Diamondbacks, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
The winner was starter Billy Buckner (4-6).
Chicago's Jake Fox, Aramis Ramirez, and Micah Hoffpauir all drove in one run.
Koyie Hill had two of the seven hits for the Cubs, who have lost three in a row.
The losing pitcher was starter Tom Gorzelanny (7-3).
