SEATTLE, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Brandon Morrow allowed a hit over eight innings Wednesday and Ken Griffey Jr. hit a three-run homer in the first, boosting Seattle to a 7-0 win over Oakland.

Morrow (2-4), in his 10th start of the season, was not given a chance to throw what would have been the first complete game of his three-year career. The only hit he allowed was a one-out, infield single in the fourth by Rajai Davis. Morrow also walked two batters in the eighth.

Shawn Kelley came on in the ninth and gave up Oakland's second hit -- a two-out single by Landon Powell.

Griffey's homer was his 18th of the season and the 629th of his career. Adam Moore hit his first career homer in the fourth, in his 16th major-league at-bat.

Clayton Mortensen (2-4) allowed six runs while retiring only three batters.
