CHICAGO, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Ryan Doumit drove in four runs and scored three times Wednesday, leading Pittsburgh to an 8-2 win over the Chicago Cubs and a sweep of a doubleheader.
The Pirates won the opener 4-0 and have captured four of their last five games. If they can win two of their final four, they will avoid a 100-loss season.
Doumit doubled home two runs in the third, then scored on a single by Brandon Moss. Doumit had an RBI single in the seventh and came around to score on a fielder's choice grounder from Moss.
The Pittsburgh catcher added a solo homer in the ninth.
Jeff Karstens (4-5) was credited with the win after giving up two runs on five hits in five innings. The loss went to Carlos Zambrano (9-7), who struck out six but gave up four runs on six hits in six frames.
