MLB: New York Yankees 8, Kansas City 2

NEW YORK, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Robinson Cano hit a grand slam Monday to power the New York Yankees to an 8-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

Ramiro Pena hit a solo homer and singled in another run in the Yankees sixth straight win.

Chad Gaudin (2-0) gave up two runs on four hits and a pair of walks in 6 2/3 innings for the Yankees, who have already wrapped up the American League East and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Luke Hochevar (7-12) yielded eight runs on 12 hits in six-plus innings for Kansas City, which has lost five of six.

Mark Teahen hit a solo homer for the Royals.
