MLB: Cincinnati 7, St. Louis 2

CINCINNATI, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Jay Bruce hit a three-run homer and a two-run homer Tuesday to power the Cincinnati Reds in a 7-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Joey Votto added a solo homer as the Reds won for the seventh time in eight games and sent the National League Central Division champions to their fourth loss in five games.

Winning pitcher Homer Bailey (7-5) gave up seven hits and a run while striking out seven over seven innings.

Losing pitcher Joel Pineiro (15-12) allowed seven runs and eight hits and seven runs over six innings.

Albert Pujols drove in a run for St. Louis for his 133rd RBI this season. David Freese hit his first career home run.
