WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Mike Morse hit the go-ahead home run in the sixth inning Monday to give the Washington Nationals a 2-1 win over the New York Mets.
Ross Detwiler (1-6) allowed a run on seven hits and a walk in six innings for his first major league victory. The young left-hander made his major league-debut during the 2007 season and was without a win in 13 games this season, all but one of those starts.
Morse was 3-for-4 and Ryan Zimmerman drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the game's opening frame.
Mike MacDougal closed it out for his 17th save of the season to help the Nationals end a four-game losing streak.
Nelson Figueroa (2-8) took the loss after allowing two runs on six hits and three walks in six innings.
The Mets stranded 10 runners. Fernando Tatis drove in the lone run for New York.
