DENVER, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Adam Wainwright yielded three runs and 10 hits in eight innings Saturday, helping St. Louis to a 6-3 win over Colorado.
It gave St. Louis the National League Central Division title.
Wainwright (19-8) was baseball's second pitcher Saturday to win 19 games this season, joining the Yankees' CC Sabathia.
In eight innings, Wainwright surrendered three runs and 10 hits with one walk and 11 strikeouts.
Closer Ryan Franklin earned his 38th save.
Ryan Ludwick slammed a two-run pinch-hit homer.
Four others had one RBI each, while Wainwright had two of the eight hits for the Cardinals, who won the division for the fourth time in six years.
Colorado's Brad Hawpe had two hits -- one a two-run fourth-inning homer.
A run scored on Joe Thurston's third-inning throwing error.
Todd Helton had three hits and Yorvit Torrealba two for the Rockies, who had won seven straight against St. Louis.
The losing pitcher was starter Ubaldo Jimenez (14-12).
