HOUSTON, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Humberto Quintero hit a key solo homer Sunday, leading the Houston Astros to a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds.

His only hit gave Houston a 3-0 lead with two outs in the bottom of the fourth and provided the eventual game-winning run because Cincinnati closed to 3-2 in the sixth.

Winner Wandy Rodriguez (14-11) surrendered two runs and nine hits in six innings with one walk and nine strikeouts.

Closer Jose Valverde earned his 25th save with a scoreless ninth.

Cincinnati's Jonny Gomes and Ramon Hernandez had two hit and one RBI each.

Six others had one hit for the Reds, who had beaten the Astros nine straight times.

The losing pitcher was starter Johnny Cueto (10-11).
