LOS ANGELES, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Matt Barkley threw two touchdown passes in a 20-point first quarter Saturday in 10th-ranked USC's 27-6 win over Washington State.
Barkley, back after missing last week's stunning 16-13 loss to Washington because of a shoulder injury, completed 13-of-22 passes for 247 yards and no interceptions.
His scoring passes came nine seconds apart.
Allen Bradford gained 55 yards on six carries.
Joe McKnight rushed for 49 yards on six carries with one touchdown, while Damian Williams scored once after five catches for 100 yards, including a 57-yard touchdown pass from Barkley for the Trojans (3-1, 1-1 Pac-10).
Washington State's Jeff Tuel completed 14-of-22 passes for 130 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.
Gino Simone caught nine passes for 82 yards, while Dwight Tardy's 2-yard touchdown run with 22 seconds left prevented a shutout for the Cougars (1-3, 0-2).
