ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Gio Gonzalez and two relievers teamed to throw a five-hit shutout Friday that gave Oakland a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

Despite losing their third in a row, the Angels still lead Texas by six games with nine to play in the race for the American League West title.

Gonzalez (6-6) allowed four hits over 6 1/3 innings in what was one of five shutouts in the majors Friday.

Michael Wuertz worked 1 2/3 innings and Andrew Bailey struck out one in a perfect ninth to earn his 26th save.

Adam Kennedy singled in the game's first run in the fifth, Daric Barton had an RBI single in the sixth and Oakland scored again in the seventh on a throwing error by catcher Jeff Mathis.

Jered Weaver (15-8) took the loss, giving up two runs on six hits in six innings.

The Angels, who came into the game with the best team batting average in the majors, were shut out for the sixth time this year.
