NEW YORK, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- CC Sabathia and two relievers combined on a two-hit shutout Saturday, leading the New York Yankees to a 3-0 win over Boston.
Sabathia (19-7) gave up only Mike Lowell's lead-off single in the top of the fifth and finished with two walks and eight strikeouts in 96 pitches.
With his ninth straight victory, he is the first pitcher to win 19 games this season.
Phil Hughes and closer Mariano Rivera fanned two batters each in the eighth and ninth innings, with Rivera earning his 43rd save this season.
New York scored on Robinson Cano's sixth-inning solo homer and Johnny Damon's two-run single in the eighth.
Derek Jeter had two of the seven hits for the Yankees, who have won four in a row.
Victor Martinez also had one hit, extending his hitting streak to 25 straight games, for the Red Sox, who have lost four of six.
The losing pitcher was starter Daisuke Matsuzaka (3-6).
