MLB: Atlanta 11, Washington 5

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Yunel Escobar's two hits and three RBI Saturday boosted Atlanta to an 11-5 rout of Washington.

His two-run single was part of a four-run first.

One of two hits by Brian McCann was a two-run ninth-inning homer.

Chipper Jones, Garret Anderson and Adam LaRoche all had two hits and one RBI.

Matt Diaz had one RBI, while two runs scored on Washington errors for the Braves, who have won five in a row and are three games back of Colorado for the National League wild-card lead.

Winner Tommy Hanson (11-4) surrendered four runs and four hits in seven innings with a walk and seven strikeouts.

Mike Morse led Washington with a three-run, fifth-inning homer.

Willie Harris and Ian Desmond had one RBI apiece, and Alberto Gonzalez had two of the seven hits for the Nationals, who committed three errors in their third straight loss.

The losing pitcher was starter Garrett Mock (3-10).
