WASHINGTON, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Javier Vazquez pitched a complete-game three-hitter Friday, pacing Atlanta's 4-1 win over Washington.
Vazquez (15-9) walked one batter and fanned seven in 105 pitches. His lone mistake was Josh Bard's lead-off homer in the bottom of the eighth.
His victory gave Atlanta its 12th win in his last 13 starts, and 10th on the road.
The Braves have won four in a row to stay in the National League wild-card picture.
Martin Prado hit a solo homer for the Braves in the ninth inning and Matt Diaz also drove in a run. Two Atlanta runs scored on Washington errors.
Losing pitcher John Lannan (9-13) surrendered two unearned runs on six hits and three walks in seven innings with six strikeouts.
The loss was the 101st of the season for the Nationals.
