COLORADO SPRINGS, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- A plan for a new U.S. Olympic Committee headquarters in Colorado Springs moved forward Thursday when a judge dismissed a legal challenge to the financing.
Lawyer Lindsay Fischer, who filed a lawsuit arguing the city could not issue certificates of participation to raise $38 million without a referendum, said he is considering an appeal, The Colorado Springs Gazette argued. He said he was "flabbergasted" by the ruling.
Fourth Judicial District Judge Scott Sells handed down a six-page opinion dismissing Fischer's complaint.
City officials said they had been unable to move forward with the financing plan because of the pending lawsuit.
"We're very pleased with the outcome and hope this will be the last major hurdle we'll have on our way to selling the (certificates of participation)," said Sue Skiffington-Blumberg, a city press officer.
