MLB: Tampa Bay 5, Seattle 4

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 23 (UPI) -- A two-run single in the eighth inning by B.J. Upton Wednesday rallied the Tampa Bay Rays to a 5-4 win over Seattle.

The Rays trailed 4-0 going into the bottom of the sixth, but came back to win for the fifth time in six games and end Seattle's winning streak at two.

Tampa Bay fought back to within one in the sixth, when Akinori Iwamura drove in two runs with a triple and then scored on a single by Upton.

Upton came up again against Mark Lowe (2-7) with the bases loaded and one away in the eighth. He singled to left on a 2-2 pitch to drive in the tying and go-ahead runs.

Russ Springer, in his 17th major league season, earned his first victory of the year in relief. Springer (1-4) recorded the third out in the top of the eighth and became the winner when Upton put the Rays in front.

Randy Choate worked a perfect ninth for his fifth save.

Upton's catch on the warning track in center accounted for the final out.
