DENVER, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Brad Hawpe's three-run homer Tuesday keyed a 14-hit attack for the Colorado Rockies who outlasted San Diego 11-10.
Clint Barmes had a two-run inside-the-park homer to help Colorado move five games ahead of San Francisco in the National League wild-card race. Todd Helton and Dexter Fowler each added three hits for the Rockies.
Matt Belisle (2-1) got the win after three innings in relief of starter Jorge De La Rosa, who was rattled for six runs in 2 1/3 innings.
Cesar Ramos (0-1) took the loss in his first Major League start.
Edgar Gonzalez drove in three runs for the Padres before leaving the game with a partially dislocated shoulder, suffered while he was diving for what turned into Barmes' inside-the-park homer. His brother, Adrian, had two RBI and Oscar Salazar drove in four.
San Diego scored four runs in the top of the ninth to pull to within one run but Franklin Morales retired pinch-hitter Nick Hundley to end the game and notch his seventh save.
