MLB: Arizona 10, San Francisco 8

PHOENIX, Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Miguel Montero and Brandon Allen each had two RBI Tuesday in the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-8 win over San Francisco.

The loss dropped the Giants five games behind Colorado in the National League wild-card race.

Rusty Ryal went 3-for-3, hit a solo home run, and scored three runs for the Diamondbacks, scored nine runs in the first three innings.

Doug Davis (8-13) won for the first time since Aug. 10 despite giving up five runs on 10 hits over 7 1/3 innings.

Matt Cain (13-7) took the loss after lasting only 2 1/3 innings. Cain surrendered seven runs on eight hits.

Randy Johnson pitched an inning in relief and coughed up Ryal's home run.

Pablo Sandoval had three hits and three RBI to lead the San Francisco offense.

San Francisco got a two-run triple by Cain in the first and led 3-0 heading into the bottom of the second, but the Diamondbacks struck back hard with two runs in the second and six more in the third.
