NCAA names Isch interim president

INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- James Isch, a senior vice president and chief financial officer at the NCAA, has been selected interim president of the college sports organization.

University of Georgia President and NCAA Executive Committee Chair Michael Adams made the announcement concerning Isch Tuesday, six days after NCAA President Myles Brand died of pancreatic cancer.

The NCAA Executive Committee has a meeting scheduled Oct. 29 in Indianapolis to discuss the search for a permanent replacement for Brand. A release from the NCAA said Isch would be responsible for providing daily oversight and strategic direction to the organization until a new president is selected.

Isch joined the NCAA in 1998 and has been responsible for accounting, budgetary matters, benefits, human resources, payroll, information technology, risk management, facilities and operations.

Prior to moving to the NCAA, Isch was CFO at the University of Arkansas and was with the administration at Montana State University. He has bachelor's and doctoral degrees in accounting from Kansas State University and a master's of business administration degree from Boston University.
