Tommie Harris' wife dies

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Jose Lopez homered in the eighth inning Tuesday to give the Seattle Mariners a 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
Tampa Bay was eliminated from postseason contention.
Ichiro Suzuki had a two-run homer for the Mariners, who got their fifth win in their last six games. Adrian Beltre also drove in a run for Seattle.
B.J. Upton drove in two runs for the Rays, whose four-game winning streak ended. Jason Bartlett also drove in a run for Tampa Bay.
Neither starter got a decision. Ryan Rowland-Smith lasted five-plus innings and gave up three runs on six hits for Seattle. Jeff Niemann went 6 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on four hits.
Miguel Batista (7-4) got the win and Dan Wheeler (4-5) took the loss.
