CHICAGO, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Chicago Blackhawks right wing Adam Burish will soon have surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right knee and will be out for six months.

Burish, 26, injured the anterior cruciate ligament when he crashed into the boards during a pre-season loss to Minnesota Sunday.

Dr. Michael Terry, the NHL team's physician, indicated Tuesday Burish will undergo reconstructive surgery as soon as possible.

The second-year player had six goals and nine points with 93 penalty minutes in 66 regular-season games last year. In addition, Burish added three goals, two assists and 30 penalty minutes in 17 playoff games.
