Seahawks quarterback has fractured rib

RENTON, Wash., Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has a fractured rib, the team said Monday.

Seahawks Coach Jim Mora reported the injury Monday but didn't say what Hasselbeck's status was for Seattle's next game against Chicago.

"He seems to be doing a lot better today, certainly than he was yesterday," Mora said. "So we'll take it day-by-day."

Hasselbeck left Sunday's 23-10 loss to San Francisco late in the second quarter, after taking a hard hit in the back from 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis. Hasselbeck eventually made his way to the locker room under his own power.

Mora said Hasselbeck had X-rays and a CT scan.

Hasselbeck hit on 10-of-18 passes for 97 yards before leaving Sunday's game.
