Miami, Cincinnati make coaches' poll moves

MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Miami (Fla.) and Cincinnati made strong moves in Monday's USA Today Coaches' Poll but Florida is a unanimous No. 1 in college football.

Miami (2-0) went from No. 22 to 13th after beating last week's No. 13 Georgia and Cincinnati (3-0) is ranked 15th after taking a No. 21 ranking into a game against No. 24 Oregon State.

Among teams going the other direction are Brigham Young (2-1), which fell from ninth to 20th and Southern California (2-1), which is 10th after being No. 3 last week.

USC had won three first-place votes last week, but the Trojans' loss to Washington shifted those votes to Florida (3-0), which took all 59 first-place votes this week. Texas (3-0) remained ranked No. 2

Alabama (3-0) was up one spot to No. 3 with Penn State (3-0) in fourth and Mississippi (2-0) at No. 5. California (3-0) is ranked sixth ahead of Louisiana State (3-0) and Boise State (3-0). Oklahoma (2-1) at ninth, is the highest rated team with a loss.

Ohio State (2-1) stayed at No. 11 followed by No. 12 Virginia Tech (2-1), Miami, 14th-ranked Texas Christian (2-0) and Cincinnati.

Oklahoma State (2-1) is up one to 16th with Georgia (2-1), North Carolina (3-0), Kansas (3-0) and Brigham Young (2-1) rounding out the Top 20. Missouri (3-0), Michigan (3-0), Houston (2-0), Nebraska (2-1) and Florida State (2-1) are Nos. 21-25, respectively. Michigan, Houston and Florida State are new entries to the list.

Georgia Tech, Utah and Oregon State all dropped out of the rankings this week.
