Granollers, Luczak advance in Bucharest

BUCHAREST, Romania, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Spaniard Marcel Granollers and Australian Peter Luczak were first-round winners Monday at the Romania Open tennis.

Granollers defeated Romanian Petru-Alexandru Luncanu 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 6-1 and Luczak beat Slovakian Karol Beck 7-5, 7-6 (8-6).

This week's top seeds are Romanian Victor Hanescu, who was runner-up here two years ago, and Spaniard Nicolas Almagro.

Frenchman Gilles Simon defeated Spaniard Carlos Moya in last year's Bucharest finale, but neither is playing here this week.
