
SEATTLE, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Mark Teixeira hit two homers and knocked in five runs Saturday, leading the New York Yankees in a 10-1 rout of Seattle.
The slugger hit an RBI triple, a three-run homer and a solo shot.
Hideki Matsui hit a solo homer.
Johnny Damon had three hits and one RBI.
Francisco Cervelli had two hits and one RBI.
Melky Cabrera hit an RBI single, while Teixeira and Robinson Cano had four hits apiece for the AL East-leading Yankees, who have split their last four games.
Winner CC Sabathia (18-7) gave up a run and just four hits in seven innings with two walks and eight strikeouts.
Seattle's run scored on a fifth-inning error by Alex Rodriguez.
Franklin Gutierrez and Mike Sweeney had two hits each for the Mariners, who had won three in a row.
The losing pitcher was starter Doug Fister (2-3).
