
ARLINGTON, Texas, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Howie Kendrick's three hits and five RBI Sunday keyed a 10-5 win by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim over Texas.
He hit a two-run homer and a three-run triple.
Gary Matthews Jr., had two hits -- one a solo homer -- and three RBI.
Juan Rivera and Chone Figgins also hit solo homers, while Erick Aybar and Vladimir Guerrero added two hits apiece for the AL West-leading Angels, who won twice in the three-game series.
They reduced their magic number to seven for clinching a third straight division title.
The winner was starter John Lackey (11-8).
Nelson Cruz hit a two-run single in the Rangers' three-run first.
Three others had one RBI for the Rangers, who were limited to seven hits and dropped eight games behind AL wild-card leader Boston after the sixth loss in their last seven games.
The losing pitcher was starter Derek Holland (7-12).
