CONOVER, N.C., Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Jay Haas
birdied five of the last six holes and won the Greater Hickory Classic in North Carolina Sunday for his first title this year on the Champions Tour.
Haas, a 13-time winner on the 50-and-over tour, shot a 7-under-par 65 for an overall score of 18-under 198.
Russ Cochran and Andy Bean, also with 65s, tied for second at 16-under 200. Hal Sutton (65) and Nick Price (68) shared fourth place at 201.
The 55-year-old Haas also won the Hickory Classic in 2005. He rolled in putts of 15 and 18 feet during his birdie run.
"I got going a little bit with the iron play, made a couple nice putts and here I am," Haas said after his win. "They were some good iron shots I can take with me the rest of the year."
Haas won $262,500.
