DETROIT, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre set an NFL record Sunday with his 271st consecutive start in a regular-season game.

Favre started in a 27-13 Minnesota victory over the Lions in Detroit and broke a record that had been held for three decades by ex-Viking Jim Marshall.

Marshall, a defensive end, started 270 straight regular-season games from 1961 to 1979.

Counting playoffs, Favre has started 293 consecutive games.

Favre's other NFL records include most touchdown passes, most completions, most passing yards and most passes intercepted.
