ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Evan Longoria drove in three runs and scored three times Friday, pacing Tampa Bay to an 11-4 romp over Toronto.
Tampa Bay, which has fallen out of playoff contention with a late-season slump, won for just the third time in 16 games.
Longoria had an RBI single during a six-run third inning and hit a two-run homer in the eighth to finish the scoring.
Tampa Bay had 16 hits, four of them from Carl Crawford.
James Shields (10-11) got the win despite giving up four runs on nine hits in six innings. He struck out seven. It is the third straight season Shields has won at least 10 games.
Scott Richmond (6-10), who did not get out of the third inning, took the loss. He gave up five runs on seven hits. Richmond has gone 0-6 in nine starts since June 24.
